Opportunity & Approach
I normally don’t take on projects that only involve web development. For SINGSHINE I made an exception because of my friendship with the founder who I had met in Shanghai while working on the XFMedia project. SINGSHINE had been acquired and rolled up into the XFMedia company. The company was also the leading experiential marketing agency in Mainland China at the time of the acquisition.
Working on the SINGSHINE gave me the opportunity to work with a friend while at the same time learning the finer points of experiential and below-the-line marketing programs; both of which I found fascinating.
Solution
I worked closely with a talented web design agency and the SINGSHINE management team in Shanghai. The management of SINGSHINE was very kind to provide me with an office for the duration of the development which helped me rapid prototype designs and concepts before they were fully-formed. This also helped create an inclusive working environment. Together the core teams and I created a new and intuitive way to navigate through SINGSHINE’s services offerings.
OUTCOME
/Results
We developed and launched SINGSHINE’s new site on time and under budget using while using a new and intuitive way to navigate through the agency’s extensive service offerings. The final shipping site was beautiful, intuitive, filled with content, and multi-lingual.

/Challenges
/Solutions
01/ I moved to Beijing at the final stage of the website development. We had to adjust to working and communicating remotely for the final beta testing of the site.
During the final phase of the development, I needed to move to Beijing from Shanghai. This was pre-zoom / FaceTime / WhatsApp communications. We worked around this by having a clear production schedule and well-established working relationships. When necessary, we used Skype conferences which worked very well. In the end, the challenges turned out to be nominal as we were well on our way to launching.
